“Cries of the Ending”
Now is the Apocalypse.
The unveiling of creation's end and judgement,
Screams of time's death and each life rent.
Eyes swimming with salt and blood in a blur,
Ashes drift and who will remember?
When flame curls round retching throats,
Shall billions go up like so many motes?
Now is the Apocalypse.
I will cry out of the depths of the world's anguish,
The red dawn of wrath has come - who will perish?
God and man, descending and ascending,
Seraphim, gold-and-silver defending
The blood-washed kneeling on earth's foundations,
The children unshaken by the burning of nations.
Now is the Apocalypse.
Now is eternity.
