I love this! Beauty in children’s literature is a topic close to my heart. As a convert and a work in progress myself, I pay very careful attention to the little details I see in wholesome children’s books and think about what they imply and provide for the families in the story. I notice the aprons, the laundry drying on lines in the sun, the geraniums in pots on the windowsills, the homemade bread, the general orderliness of the homes, and I try to reason backwards to understand the habits and customs that allow for these aspects of everyday goodness. Wholesome children’s books are a form of remedial instruction for those of us raised in the 90’s.
